On Thursday, January 18, 28-year-old Giver Quiroz-Vasquez received a life sentence for the murder of 24-year-old Alicia Martinez-Izaquirr. The sentence was given in the Superior Court in Middlesex County.

The case was originally opened when Quiroz-Vasquez followed and allegedly killed Martinez-Izaquirr on June 24, 2015. He was said to have followed her to her workplace and shot her twice in the head, with an illegal handgun and ammunition purchased hours before. Quiroz-Vasquez was said to have followed her to the Prologis industrial warehouse using a tracker that she had placed on her car.

In 2015, Marlon Martinez, Martinez-Izaquirr’s brother, had said that “She was just trying to make her American dream come true,” and that “she went to work everyday.” This murder was the first in in South Brunswick since 2008.
