Early Friday, February 2, a house at 109 Commerce Street, Perth Amboy, went up in flames. The fire affecting this two-story home started around 3:15 A.M. and burned the entire frame of the house, and had started to spread outside of the home. The result was a boy, Rhyan Jumelle, found dead and a man missing; Rhyan’s body was located at approximately 7:30 A.M.

Cindy Taveras, a witness that took a video of the uproaring flames, commented that she was “Praying that everyone made it out safe after I heard a lady yelling for help.”

The quick-spreading fire was said to have stopped fire officials from entering the house, causing injuries to them and their gear. The house fire caused several to sustain injuries, and be taken to the hospital immediately, including one man that had jumped out of the window. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and is being investigated.
