On Friday, March 2, a huge Nor’easter tore through New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, and Maine. This storm – called Winter Storm Riley – caused tremendous flooding with combinations of rain and snow along with blackouts throughout the states.

According to Governor Cuomo of New York, there were winds of 20-40 mph. There were also reports of approximately 2-4 inches of snow and even more in some parts of New Jersey, as well as 2-3 inches of rain. The tides were said to be “astronomically high” for the duration of the storm.

FlightAware.com said that there were approximately 3,100 flights that were shut down throughout Boston, Philadelphia, and New York. Ever since 4:50 p.m. that Friday, there have been more than 159,000 power outages. Several trees and electrical poles have also fell victim to Winter Storm Riley, many collapsing onto streets and into yards. Around 40 schools were closed or gave their students an early dismissal.
