What’s next for Stand Up to Cancer?

No matter who you ask, Stand Up to Cancer is a clear standout when asking students which club holds the best events. From their earlier events this school year, such as the Color Run to the magical Holiday Movie Night, to their future endeavors, club president Agata Srodon (pictured above on the right) and Mr. Pastva, spend a great deal of time and effort ensuring that each event is perfect.

They have many events planned for the future, the highlight of which is the Frisbee tournament, held on April 21st, from 12-3 p.m. As well as the highly anticipated Frisbee tournament, the club will be selling bracelets for Mike Marques, a former student who was recently diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a cancerous tumor which affects the bone. As always, photographers will be present, to capture memories for both club members and student participants, as well as the adults who help host the event.

In the future, the club will also be holding their annual Powder Puff football game and hair-cutting event. The Powder Puff game, where the junior girls face off against the graduating seniors, is always a thrilling game. The club has assigned a tentative date for the event: May 24th. The hair cutting event is still being planned and will involve a sponsorship with St. Baldrick’s. A date has not been set for either event yet.

The rest of the year looks to be promising and exciting, and these events will be a great way for the members of Stand Up to Cancer to raise awareness in the fight against cancer!
