Quite the INCREDIBLE Volleyball Tournament

Sayreville War Memorial High School’s ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) program hosted their annual volleyball tournament in the gymnasium on November 19 from 7-9 p.m. With visitor admission of only $2.00, the stands were packed with supporting family members and friends who excitedly anticipated for the rallies that would unfold that night.

This intense four-round tournament consisted of sixteen teams who came dressed in appropriate attire and cleverly thought-up team names that associated with the theme: Disney. The teams that competed this year went by the names of Snow Wright, Once Upon a Time, Andy’s Toys, DaBaby’s Babies, Olaf’s Snowballs, Aladdin’s Fleet, The Incredibles, Mighty Ducks, Freakadeeks, Monsters University, Beauties and Beasts, Guardians of the Galaxy, Lady and the Champs, Alice in Moneyland, Jungle Cruise, and Oozma Kappa.

After rounds of rallying among the sixteen teams, the two that emerged in the finals were The Incredibles and Monsters University. With incredible moves made by both teams, the audience was on the edge of their seats to see who would prevail. Ultimately, The Incredibles were able to make a successful comeback and win the tournament, with senior Giovanni Hendrick scoring the last point that broke the tie.

Congratulations to the Incredibles and all of the other teams that participated in this tournament, which was filled with talent, fun, and excitement. With the success of this event, many students hope that SWMHS ROTC will consider hosting another one in the spring, but this information has yet to be released.
