DECA REGIONALS 2023
February 3, 2023
NEW JERSEY DECA’s Central Jersey East District Conference was held at Kean University on January 5, 2023, and Sayreville War Memorial High School’s DECA chapter attended as well.
This was the first time since January 2020 that New Jersey high school DECA programs may compete in-person in business-related role plays. The in-person regional competitions held last year had been canceled due to an increase in COVID cases during the winter holidays of 2022.
DECA is an extracurricular organization that prepares students for college as well as professional life by mixing classroom learning with real-life contacts with the community and nearby companies, as well as competitive competitions.
On January 5 members of Sayreville War Memorial High School’s DECA chapter participated in several role-playing competitions. Finalists in each event advance to participate in New Jersey DECA’s High School State Career Development Conference, which will be held in Atlantic City from February 27 to March 1.
Sayreville High School’s DECA chapter will send its highest number of members from its chapter to the state competition this year than ever before, where they will compete in role play activities and present manuals against qualified DECA students from high school DECA chapters around the state. Since the beginning of the school year, these students have been working on their business manuals and presentations. Finalists from each state will compete at the International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida, from April 22 to April 25.
