Elon Musk’s Tesla is recalling nearly 200,000 vehicles in the U.S. because the backup camera may not work while the car is in reverse.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this glitch is due to a “software instability” in the cars that is preventing the camera from functioning.
The agency stated in an update regarding the issue that Tesla is recalling certain 2023 Model S, C, and Y cars that include self-driving systems.
However, this isn’t the first time Tesla has had to recall their vehicles. Last month, the billion-dollar company recalled 2 million of its vehicles over the faulty system that ensured drivers were focused while using its Autopilot feature. This recall came after multiple deadly crashes involving Tesla’s Autopilot software.
Regarding this most recent recall, the company has already released an over-the-air software update and owners are expected to be notified of the recall by mail starting March 22.
In addition, Tesla has stated that no deaths, injuries, or crashes have been reported due to this issue.
