On Wednesday, April 24, President Joe Biden signed a bill into law that could ban the famous app TikTok if it’s not sold within a year.
The law, included in a $95 million national security package, would ban TikTok if the Chinese Company, Byte Dance, does not sell it within a year.
Many lawmakers not only want it banned due to its negative effects on teens and its addictiveness, but also because of concerns about security regarding American data.
As lawmakers and politicians continue their efforts to get rid of the app, Tiktok has asked its users to contact local lawmakers to block the ban of the app.
TikTok executive, Michael Beckerman, said that they’ll “continue to fight, as this legislation is a clear violation of the First Amendment rights.”
