Sayreville DECA is always looking for ways to give back to the community and has worked diligently over the years to do so at every opportunity. Already this year, within the first few months, they have made plans to raise awareness about cancer issues and to raise money for cancer research for the 2024-2025 New Jersey Community Service Project charity, The American Cancer Society.
During Sayreville Day, the town’s annual event, they set up a booth to raise awareness and share more about who they are. They offered fun games, face painting, and information about the club and their involvement in the community. They are also working towards a goal of raising $1,000 for the American Cancer Society by January.
That’s not the only way they are giving back to the community. Recently, on Saturday, October 26, their advisor, Mrs. Ferreri, along with Chapter Presidents Rishi Shah, Marissa Mandola, Abdullah Khan, and the dedicated Executive Board, hosted a successful initiative where they participated in a local park cleanup at Kennedy Park to help restore this beautiful space. With the support of volunteers and team members, they were able to make a significant impact on the environment.
They have many more plans in place for the future to support their local Sayreville community and initiatives like the American Cancer Society.
They look forward to many more community service activities and will continue to make a positive impact along the way, as that is what DECA is all about.
