On November 18, 2024 the first mysterious drones the size of cars were spotted in New Jersey skies, and two months later they are still in the skies and the public does not know why.
Politicians have not given a clear answer on where the drones are coming from, some believe they are from Iran, while others believe they are from China. However, both these theories have been shut down by the Pentagon, the White House, and the homeland security department who claim they do not have foreign origin, nor do they pose a security threat.
Despite the drones not being a security threat they have flown over no fly zones such as New Jersey military bases. This has caused some people to believe the government may be behind these drones if they allowed them to fly over these areas and do not seem to express much concern.
The drones have started appearing in other states such as New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland. Many citizens and former President Trump want the drones to be shot down and stopped, but it is illegal to shoot or point lasers at the drones in case it hits a plane.
Military and government drones have been in our skies before, and planes or even stars can be easily confused with a drone. This confusion has dramatized the case count but the drones are out nonetheless. Another interesting detail is the drones only fly at night, causing speculations on the drones looking for radiation. This has been proven false by the National Nuclear Security Administration, but conspiracies still run strong.
Sophomore Sabrina Brown said, “They are really weird I don’t like them and I think someone is controlling them.”
