Two Sayreville War Memorial High School graduation seniors, Tyler Hill and Rishi Shah, were recently award winners for the Brandon Tyler Narleski Drunk Driving Awareness Scholarship, a powerful award created in memory of Brandon Tyler Narleski—a 2013 SWMHS graduate whose life was tragically cut short by a drunk driver at age 19.
Brandon was well known for his infectious smile, and he cherished family and friends immensely, as well as his phenomenal abilities of creativity and love for music. After finishing school at SWMHS, Brandon pursued his passion and studied towards a Certificate in Audio Technology at the SAE Institute of Technology in New York. Brandon was on a professional track as a producer and recording engineer and had only just begun an internship with Future Moguls when his life was abruptly ended on November 9, 2014.
To honor him, the Brandon Tyler Narleski Foundation was established to celebrate his memory, promote young artists, and raise awareness of the consequences of drunk driving. The foundation gives a $1,000 scholarship each year to SWMHS seniors who not only demonstrate grit but also significantly contribute towards preventing drunk driving.
This year‘s recipients, Rishi Shah and Tyler Hill, both showed outstanding commitment to their future and to making a good contribution to their communities.
In being honored with this award, Rishi and Tyler join an increasing number of students helping to carry on Brandon‘s work—to raise awareness, to inspire others, and to turn tragedy into positive action.
