Sayreville War Memorial High School (SWMHS) is proud to announce the launch of its groundbreaking Music and Recording Arts Program, designed to immerse students in the world of music production, sound design, and creative expression. This program offers hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and techniques, empowering students to create, record, and share their own music.
The program will be centered around the recently constructed AP95 Recording Studio, generously donated by Jon Bon Jovi in October 2024. This state-of-the-art facility provides students with access to professional-grade equipment and an inspiring creative environment.
Led by instructor Mr. Justin Sanford, the program takes students on a journey from beatmaking basics to professional mixing and mastering. Highlights include:
• Studio Tours of the AP95 Studio and satellite spaces
• Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) Training in Logic, Pro Tools, and Soundtrap
• Beatmaking & Songwriting Workshops
• Recording Sessions with vocals and live instruments
• Sound Design & FX Exploration
• Mixing & Mastering Techniques
• Career Insights into music production, engineering, introduction to publishing, streaming
royalties, PROs, and branding
• Final Showcase featuring student-produced tracks, with options to publish on platforms
like SoundCloud and Bandcamp
Each week integrates creative check-ins, mini-lessons, lab time, and reflection, fostering both technical skills and artistic growth. The program culminates in a Final Project Showcase, where students present their completed tracks to peers, family, and the school community.
Principal Richard Gluchowski shared his enthusiasm: “This program reflects our commitment to providing students with real-world, creative opportunities. It’s not just about music—it’s about confidence, collaboration, and career readiness.”
