The free PSAT will be held on October 11, from 7:30 to 11:45am at our school for juniors to prepare for the SAT.
The PSAT is a full length practice test much like the real SAT test on math and ELA. This test allows students to get an idea of what they need to study for the real test.
Once students have completed the PSAT and gotten their scores they can decide how they should study for the real thing. Our school offers an SAT/ACT prep course starting in October 8, ending on November 5, taking students right up to the November 8 SAT. The course is $140 for 5 meetings and will primarily focus on the math section of the test.
Our school library and the public library both offer SAT prep books you can check out to prepare yourself. Collegeboard, the official site for the SAT, also has free full length practice tests available. These tests allow you to see your score and give you specialized practice questions based on what you got wrong. Collegeboard has also partnered with Khan Academy to provide a free SAT prep course; however, some students say it is easier than the real test, making it less reliable.
These are not the only resources students can use to study, they are plenty more physically and digitally. Some of these programs are free, while others are not. Students should focus on finding what works best for them as they prepare for the test.
