The Hunger Games is a very well-recognized book series, which was later adapted into film with actress Jennifer Lawrence cast as the main lead, Katniss Everdeen. Well-known for its engaging, action-filled plot, it has garnered millions of fans all around the world. It is a good read for kids aged 12 to 13, and explores themes of power, oppression, rebellion, and resilience. The strong female lead acts as an inspiration to many.
With the trilogy consisting of The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay, fans thought that the series was over in 2010. Then, in 2020, author Suzanne Collins published The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, providing insightful backstory for one of the biggest villains of the series. A movie starring Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth hit the cinemas and turned out to be a great film!
Sunrise on the Reaping is another prequel book that Suzanne Collins wrote for her dedicated fans. It tells the story of Haymitch Abernathy, a well-loved character in the main series, and how he won the Games. The book was officially released on March 18, 2025, to great excitement from readers all around the world.
I, for one, have not read it yet. However, I am excited to get a chance and hope that this will lead to another great movie!
