On Monday afternoon, Japan was hit with a 7.6-magnitude earthquake. As a result, many buildings have crumbled into rubble, and officials have urged citizens to move to higher grounds.
Due to the collapse of buildings, over 100 people passed away and many were injured. The earthquake also caused the flooding of many local hospitals. With the concern of more of its citizens trapped, rescue teams were sent out.
Along with the snowfall that occurred that week, it complicated the situation. In addition, with the many fires, wrecked roadways, and crumbled buildings, the journey to reach specific areas, including the Noto peninsula, was difficult. Luckily, no tsunamis larger than 4 feet hit Japan.
To this day, Japan is still dealing with the aftermath of Fukushima, in which tons of radiation had been released due to a tsunami hitting the area after experiencing an earthquake with a magnitude of 9.0. Therefore, to prevent history repeating itself, officials checked its nuclear power plants and ensured that all were in safe conditions.
