It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Winter Break has happened for students at Sayreville Public Schools and beyond, specifically for the SWMHS and SMS students. This meant getting out of school early, Christmas, snow , and New Year’s. When coming out of school, we SWMHS students got out at 12:30 PM, while the SMS students get out at 1:00 PM.
In order to fulfill their satisfaction, some people decorate their homes with holiday decorations and other things that represent winter break and the holiday season. Of course, nothing can be more fun except putting the gifts under the tree for the little ones.
Some people go over the extreme and come up with New Year’s Resolutions, a set of personal commitments to make positive changes for the next year.
The staff and students at SWMHS spent their winter break in a variety of different ways.
Some, like Ms. Giorgianni and Mr. Mars spent their Christmas with their families. “I feel it’s a great reset for students and staff alike to send winter break with their families,” Mars said.
They also came up with many different resolutions. Ms. Giorgianni will be picking up new hobbies, and Mr. Bloom’s resolution is “to be more assertive.”
Class of 2029, December student of the month, Braxton Cabantan celebrated the new year with his family, and his resolution is to “be focused and to not procrastinate.”
Eli R Moloughney said, “I want to take someone to North Carolina for my New Yea’s Resolution.”
Ms. Yvonnet went skiing in Killington, Vermont over winter break. “It was fun, but the mountains in Vermont are way steeper than Jersey’s Mountains,” she said. “I also went in a hot tub in the freezing cold. It was like my head was freezing, but my body was warm. I probably want to explore more of New Jersey for my New Year’s Resolutions.”
Mr. Gluchowski, principal of Sayreville War Memorial High School said, “I will be spending time out with my family and my New Year’s Resolution is to take care of my students at Sayreville War Memorial High School.”
When we returned from winter break, SWMHS hosted the Renaissance Breakfast, a party for the Renaissance men and women of Sayreville War Memorial High School. The best of the best. You need all A’s for the first marking period to attend the breakfast and administration is hosting another one in the spring with same requirements as the first breakfast.
Kaylee Provenza said she was “proud” to be able to attend the breakfast and raffle winner Daniel O’Mahony said, “I appreciate their appreciation of my hard work here.”
Another raffle winner, Shane Wisniewski felt “excited” to participate.
