Sayreville War Memorial High School’s homecoming spirit week took place from October 16 to 20. The week started off strong with a Dynamic Duo Day, and we saw everything from salt & pepper to Mario & Luigi. Our students made sure no one was left out and some students chose to have trio costumes like the Powerpuff Girls.
On Tuesday we took a blast to the past to the year 2000, when low rise jeans, layers, cargos, and flares were all the rage. Our Sayreville students did not disappoint, and is just me or was it starting to look like High School Musical?
Wednesday was fall and cozy day, with thick sweaters, pajama pants and all things warm as far as the eye can see. Our students were definitely cozy for the fall season.
Thursday was cultural flag day, and our students wore their heritages proudly. Flags from all over the world hung from students’ backs and hands. Those who did not have flags didn’t let them stop having school spirit. Many students wore t-shirts, jackets, jerseys, and face paint to show off their culture.
Finally Friday at last and it was time for the Pink Out Pep Rally. Sayreville chose to have a pink out to show our support for breast cancer awareness month and the strong teachers in our school fighting it themselves. Students were also provided with pink ribbon pins to add to their pink clothes to show extra support. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side and the pep rally was canceled. However the seniors still got to enjoy it inside the gym and all those who were set to perform were still able to. We ended the festivities with a win from our football team that night!
