Sayreville FBLA has been really busy lately! From attending the Central Region Summit to counting up our community service donations and running multiple fundraisers, there is a lot to catch up on. Here is a recap of what our chapter has been up to this past month.
Fundraisers
Yummy Krispy Kreme Donuts
SWMHS FBLA sold Krispy Kreme donuts by the dozen and bags of coffee until January 22. There were multiple delicious flavors of donuts: original glazed, chocolate iced, raspberry, kreme, and lemon. Original and decaf signature coffees were also available for purchase. We had a record number of orders that were distributed the following week. The profits will be used for various chapter expenses, as well as funding the National Leadership Conference.
Delicious Double Good Popcorn
Members had pop-up stores on the Double Good website to sell popcorn. They keep 50% of their sales. The profit for each member discounted their individual cost to attend the State Leadership Conference. This is one of our most successful and popular fundraisers, with this year’s total sales being $10,574. If a member sold over $280 worth of popcorn, they earned a free trip to SLC! The leftover profit will go towards the NLC fund.
NJ FBLA State Officer Visit
Three NJ FBLA State Officers paid a virtual visit to our chapter on January 5. Lassini Kavuri, the Central Region Vice President; Aakar Annamalai, the Northern Region Vice President; and Angela Liu, the State President, talked to chapter members. Members got the opportunity to ask questions about past experiences, leadership opportunities, and received advice. We are so thankful for this opportunity!

Enhance Equity

On January 15, SWMHS alumni Rishi Shah, and Asmi Kaushal (Miss New Jersey International 2025) presented about Enhance Equity. This is a free platform and mentorship network from Enhance Equity Org, dedicated to enhancing education equity by giving all students access to guidance, resources, and support–regardless of background or financial status. Other CTE clubs and organizations joined SWMHS FBLA at this quick presentation on career prep. Thank you, Rishi and Asmi!
Advice from Alumni and SLC Meeting

Three Sayreville FBLA alumni came to speak at our SLC Info & Alumni Meeting: Megha Chauhan, Aayush Mehta, and Aaryan Parikh. They spoke about their FBLA experiences and how participating in this organization allowed them to get to and prosper where they are now. They also gave helpful tips to our members on competing, as they all had a very successful career in FBLA. After the presentation, members were told all about the New Jersey State Leadership Conference, including schedules, costs, and what to pack and expect. We look forward to seeing what our chapter accomplishes at NJ FBLA SLC this year!
Finance Forte Recap
The Finance Forte Challenge is a NJ FBLA statewide initiative that promotes understanding of financial literacy. Our treasurers, Emma Smith and Khushi Patel, went through this set of challenges while expanding their knowledge of financial literacy. Completing this challenge earns our chapter different points for recognition at SLC. Check out what they learned on our chapter Instagram page, @swmhs.fbla.
Leveling Up At the Central Region Summit
On January 16, 15 members of Sayreville FBLA’s board attended the New Jersey Central Region Summit at Monroe Township High School. Members were able to participate in various workshops to hone their leadership skills and teamwork, and were even able to network with students from other schools. Sayreville FBLA presidents Tanvi, Ava, and Shaili presented their Stranger Thing’s themed PACT presentation and workshop, which helped students develop better teamwork skills and learn how to work in a group setting with others.

SWMHS Chapter Spotlight

FBLA participated in a sandwich making event and collaborated with the Sayreville LEOs community service club, NHS, and Junior ROTC to make over 400 sandwiches. The event was a success and the sandwiches were donated to those in need. Sayreville FBLA was recognized by New Jersey FBLA and featured in their Chapter Spotlight for this act of community service!
Raising Awareness for Alzheimer’s: SWMHS Campaign

SWMHS held an Alzheimer’s campaign to raise awareness and raise money towards the Alzheimer’s Association. A total of over $300 was raised from donations from everyone who participated! Thank you to those who donated money towards this cause and a special shoutout to the top three donors: Prisha Pagare, Habiba Rao, and Margo Burns!
From High School to Collegiate FBLA
FBLA members created a short video promoting the benefits of joining FBLA collegiate after high school. Joining FBLA collegiate can bring everything you love about FBLA in high school and level it up! There are bigger competitions, more networking, and more leadership opportunities. It is a great way to get involved after high school and make many new connections! Check out the video on Instagram @swmhs.fbla and TikTok @swmhs_fbla.
Membership Workshop Initiative

SWMHS FBLA had their three presidents present two workshops at the Sayreville Public Library. These workshops were for the State Membership Workshop Initiative. They presented a Zootopia and Stranger Things-themed workshop. Their Stranger Things workshop taught people how to have better teamwork skills! In addition to that, they spread awareness about digital literacy by giving a presentation about cybersecurity. It informed people about their safety on the internet and taught them how to be safer when using technology.
Giving Back By the Numbers
SWMHS collected hygiene items for the New Jersey statewide community service project “Hearts for Hygiene” and cards for “Advocate for Anthony.” Members counted these items for an amazing total of 819 hygiene products and 1,743 kindness cards! Those who donated truly made a difference and contributed to helping those in need as well as the community service initiatives for FBLA. This truly made an impact on our community as these products are now being sent out as well as the cards!
