On March 15, Taste Atlas— a well-known, credible encyclopedia of food and recommendations across the world— updated their picks for the Top 25 Cheese Desserts in the World.

Taking 2nd place was Ras Malai, with a massive 4.4 rating on their site. If you don’t know, Ras Malai is a well-known Indian dessert, especially popular during the festive seasons such as Diwali and Holi.

But, what does this sweet happiness even mean? In Hindi, if you break the word apart, “ras” means juice, while “malai” translates to cream. If you ask me, it’s a quite fitting name for a dessert that offers the perfect mix of creamy richness and fine sweetness. Its ingredients consist of cream, sugar, milk, cardamom, and paneer, which all work together to create this masterpiece.
