Setting boundaries is key to having a successful life.
During the school year, we are surrounded by relationships, friendships, and assignments. But how do we maintain them while sustaining a healthy life? One word: Boundaries.
Boundaries are important for maintaining your peace. They are like fences that set your limits in stone. The power of boundaries protects your mental peace while building confidence, therefore yielding respect among others. It allows you to speak up and say “no.” It also enables you to prioritize your needs, hobbies, and other interests. From personal experience, my boundaries have led me to be more confident in who I am, be more comfortable with friends, and be more successful and attentive to my needs (assignments, hobbies, etc.).
How do you set boundaries?
Boundaries are set by your values, wants, and needs. Recognize what you value and lack. Figure out what steps you have to take to set these boundaries. Do you need to quit an activity? Do you need to change your schedule? Be direct and firm to hold those boundaries. One key aspect to maintaining boundaries is to be consistent.
Boundaries will get you far in life. They will set you free and will open a door to more opportunities.
