Jerry “Prince Bee” Grant was an 8-year old that enjoyed playing Double Dutch, especially with his teammates. On Saturday, October 28th, Grant was hit by a car while crossing Christopher Columbus Drive. Witnesses say that the car that hit him, a red jeep, didn’t initially stop, and continued for some time after. Grant was on the Honey Bees, a double dutch team that consisted of mostly 3rd graders, except for Grant, a 2nd grader that passed their standards. On Wednesday, November 1st, hundreds of mourners attended a candlelight vigil for the young double dutch champion, and Takeria “Queen Bee” Clark, founder of the Honey Bees, spoke on behalf of him at the vigil. A spokesperson from the Tonight Show, which he and his team attended, said that “he was a break-out performer and made so many people happy with his performance. We extend our deepest condolence to his family during this time.”
