On Monday February 2 SWMHS held its annual Freshmen Tip Off for incoming 8th graders and their parents to explore the clubs the high school has to offer. Over 35 clubs were in attendance — from DECA to the Crochet Club, and everything in between.
The best part about the Tip Off was that it allowed 8th graders to meet current high school students who found success and enjoyment in these clubs. It gives 8th graders a chance to go in prepared and meet high school students who could help mentor them through their freshmen year. Classes are a big part of your high school experience but finding clubs that you love helps elevate the experience through new encounters, new friends, and new interests.
Junior Sabrina Brown said, “Clubs help you expand and form connections, and it’s a good way to bond over mutual and similar interests.”
The night ended with parents going to the auditorium to hear a presentation about scheduling while students could enjoy the varsity basketball game and watch the cheerleaders and step team perform, further inspiring them to get involved in the school’s sports and clubs.
