Sayreville FBLA is always striving to grow, so we made sure to start this year strong and ready. We held meetings for new and returning members to make sure everyone knows what this organization is all about. We also hosted a fundraiser and had a guest speaker come in and teach us about different opportunities. We started the year with a whopping 300+ members. Sayreville FBLA is proud to be one of the largest chapters in New Jersey, ready to conquer this membership year.
Meetings
Interest Meeting
This year’s interest meeting was held on September 22. Hundreds of students from all grades came to the meeting to learn about the club. Information about the upcoming membership year was shared, such as when the regional, state, and national conferences were. Business Achievement Awards, which are courses you can take, were discussed along with how to choose a competitive event. An overview of competitive events, conferences, and our chapter as a whole was given. Members had a great time and learned a lot of new information about FBLA and how to join.
FBLA 101 Meeting
To maximize our chapter’s success, we held an FBLA 101 meeting on October 8. At this meeting, members dived deeper into the club and learned about different kinds of competitive events and conferences. Information about terminology, different kinds of events, the process of picking a competitive event, and conferences was given so students could gain a greater understanding of FBLA.
CTE Meeting
On October 7, FBLA participated in the CTE (career and technical education) meeting, where a guest speaker from Rutgers Business School came to speak to students. The guest speakers gave members a glimpse of college life and how to get involved in opportunities even during high school. They shared information about the world of business beyond just FBLA and high school, and encouraged students to get involved. They spoke about different programs that were offered at Rutgers that could help students become more accustomed to being on a college campus, and also spoke about how to be in a college-level business course.
Activities Fair
FBLA participated in our school’s activities fair on September 26. During their lunch, students came to the stand, learned about what FBLA was, joined our chapter, and participated in an activity. We gave a quick elevator pitch, and many students signed up.
Festival of Lights
Sayreville FBLA also held a stand at Sayreville’s Festival of Lights celebration on October 19. People who stopped by the stand had a chance to learn more about FBLA and show their support. Visitors could take a picture with the frame and play games to earn prizes. This wonderful opportunity allowed our community to learn about our chapter.
Chipotle Fundraiser
A Chipotle fundraiser was held on October 19 to raise money for the State Leadership Conference. A percentage of each purchase where the flyer was shown came directly to us. The fundraiser was very successful, and our members were able to raise an ample amount of money.
State Fall Leadership Conference

On October 28, some of our board members attended the State Fall Leadership Conference at Kean University. They attended workshops, networked with other chapters, and learned ways to improve our chapter. Our presidents, Shaili Shah, Ava Patel, and Tanvi Agarwal, did a PACT (Present A Creative Topic) presentation at one of the workshops. It was a crime/detective themed presentation for tips on forming collaborative and successful teams. They had a “Clue” game-inspired activity at the end as well.
Membership Status
Sayreville FBLA has just reached a membership of 300+ members, a new record high for our chapter. Sayreville FBLA could be eligible for a state membership award, which recognizes chapters that have grown their membership.
Sayreville FBLA has had a great start to the year, and we are so excited to succeed. There are many exciting upcoming events in the works.
